A school project for Academy of Art University
Identity, Visual Identity System, Event Design, Interaction
BACKGROUND /
There are lots of Chinese Americans in San Francisco. One problem many second generation children face is that they cannot communicate well with their families. Many of them do not speak Mandarin even though its the language of their parents and grandparents. As a result, they are losing touch with the language, customs, and culture associated with their heritage.
APPROACH /
The goal of my brand is to encourage children to learn Mandarin as a way to help families grow closer and retain their Chinese culture. Since it will be a brand for children, I came up with three deliverables which can connect parents with their children. The deliverables are based on my previous research results and final goal. They are centered around teaching the Mandarin language through three mediums: a mobile application, flashcards, and an event.
